Our Story and Purpose

Who We Are

Brandywine Community Church is an inter-denominational church that was started in 1990 through the combined efforts of Brookville Road Community Church and Community church of Greenwood. We are an evangelical, Christ-centered family church with refreshing, contemporary worship and practical biblical messages.

The heartbeat of Brandywine from the very beginning has been to reach the unchurched and lead them to be fully devoted followers of Christ. Brandywine has grown from a core of 30 people to over 1200 in worship today. The candle has come to symbolize these new lives in Christ, and it continues to be lit nearly every Sunday. Brandywine provides primary support to six different missionaries both stateside and internationally.

Brandywine people impact the community through over 100 different ministries both within the church and beyond. Over 40 small groups meet throughout the week at many locations to pray, care for one another, and apply God’s truth to their daily lives. Other discipleship opportunities include a wide variety of elective classes, including the Brandywine Institute of Biblical Studies.

The Church’s Purpose

Membership (Fellowship):
To provide a fellowship where people can encourage one another and find support in the family of God.

Maturity (Discipleship):
To encourage the uncommitted to become committed and grow in maturity so they might become fully devoted followers of Christ.

Ministry (Service):
To equip believers for service to use their God-given gifts for works in ministry.

Missions (Outreach):
To attract and bring the unsaved to
Jesus Christ.

Magnification (Worship):
To provide a climate in which personal spiritual worship can occur.
